Great Baskin Robbins Food Fight

I had the most hilarious conversation with Mike Raleigh last week and had to share. Mike told me about the Great Baskin Robbins Food Fight that must have taken place sometime in '83 or '84. Mike, Sam Hogin, Scott Blevins, and Gus Antonioni all worked at the Baskin Robbins on the Post Rd in downtown Darien. Somehow they all ended up on the same shift with no manager and no customers around. Not sure what instigated it put Sam got hold of the pressurized soda hose and started shooting. Before you know it ice cream, bananas, whipped cream and everything else was flying through the air. Some mortified housewives looked in from the sidewalk as the B&R employees made a mess of themselves and the shop. Somehow Gus crashed into the large pane glass window and broke it. Then of course the manager came in, fired all of them, and made them clean up before they left.

Mike later went on to an illustrious career as the dessert guy at the Darien Dinner Theater while still under the age of 16 (he put that B&R experience to work!). Many more DDT stories to share in a future email.

Mike filled me in on what he's been up to since graduation. He went to UConn, joined the Navy to help him pay for college, then spent five years with the Navy that took him to San Diego, Florida, the Carolinas, Somalia, and Bosnia. His dad got sick so he came back to Fairfield County. He got into marketing, working for an agency called MGR in Wilton that later became Marketing Drive. Now he works for Colangelo Synergy Marketing in Darien. He's engaged to Christine Hartshorn who works for Dannon in Tarrytown. Christine just got a new position out in LA so they're California-bound in the next month or so (Mike will open a Colangelo office out there). They plan to drive x-country with their dogs and drop in on Pete Huber who lives in Albuquerque.
