Joanie Mitchell Carlo News
Hey Andy, Wow! So great to hear from you. Yes, I am married since 1998 with two beautiful girls (Mary Cate 4yrs. and Grace 3yrs.) and we are expecting our third in January - hoping for a boy!!! We live in Darien - didn't venture far!!! Most of my family is still here except for two brothers who live in CA. Holidays are great amongst the Mitchell's - but crazy!!! (7 of us and my parents have 19 grandkids!)!!!
I am still performing in fact I just finished doing a production of The Sound of Music - The Mother Abbess!!! It was a great show, 11 performances. I graduated from college with a theatre/english major with a minor in voice. I got my first "professional" job less than a week after graduating from college. Soon after I was off to Ohio to do a 4 month run of a production called "Sullivan and Gilbert" by Ken Ludwig. From there I went on to summer stock in PA for three months doing a production of Damn Yankees then Carousel.
After that job I was home for a few months working at the Black Goose Grille then I got a National Tour of Hansel and Gretl where I toured the US for 6 months which also earned my my professional Equity card. I had met my husband-to-be on a break from the tour so when the 6 months was up I opted to come home rather than sign on another 6 months. The show was
great, the touring was fun but I needed a change.
So I came back to Darien and worked some shows/cabarets in Stamford, Wilton and NYC. It was great!!! I still have that musical theatre bug but I certainly have to and want to put family first. I hope some day, when my children are old enough,
that I will go back into it fulltime!!!!
How about you? What are you up to? Where are you? How is your sister?
It was so great seeing the DHS website and reading about some of the
people. I hope more and more people get signed up!!!!! I hope all is well, write back so I can see what fun things you are up to!!!
Take care,
Joanie Mitchell Carlo
